Schema markup for livery yards
Livery yard schema markup, with an example
A livery yard's block is LocalBusiness with a catalog that prices each livery type per week and says who does what, your arena, turnout and hacking in amenityFeature, and the hours owners can be on the yard. A link to directions helps, because rural postcodes rarely lead to the gate.
The type to use
LocalBusiness
schema.org has no type for livery, stables or equestrian centres, and SportsActivityLocation describes sports venues such as gyms and pitches rather than somewhere a horse lives. LocalBusiness is the honest fit.

The properties that matter for livery yards
Most important first. Fill in what's true for you and leave out the rest; every value must also be on the page.
- hasOfferCatalog
- DIY, part, full and grass livery as separate offers priced per week, each with a description of who mucks out, feeds, turns out and brings in.
- amenityFeature
- Arena size and surface, floodlights, year-round turnout, a wash box, off-road hacking from the gate: each stated, with a value where a number matters.
- address
- The yard's postal address, which is often a farm name and a lane rather than a street number.
- hasMap
- A link to a map or a directions page that ends at your gate, for owners arriving with a horsebox.
- openingHoursSpecification
- Yard hours for owners, such as 6am to 9pm, rather than when the office answers the phone.
- description
- A summary naming your livery types and whether a waiting list is open, worded as on your homepage.
- telephone
- The yard manager's number, for owners arranging a visit before they move a horse.
- sameAs
- Your Facebook page, where vacancies and yard news usually go first.
Example
Copy, then make it yours
This is the markup for a made-up business. Replace every value with your own before you use it.
- Change every name, address, number and link to your own, and delete lines that don't apply.
- Paste it into your site's header code (website builders call it “code injection” or “custom code”), or let ServiceCited add it for you.
- Check it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.

Mistakes livery yards make with markup
Livery types with nothing inside
Offers named “Part livery” with a price leave owners guessing whether that covers weekends or hay. Every yard defines it differently, so put who-does-what in each description.
The postcode's pin instead of the gate
Rural postcodes cover several farms, and coordinates taken from one can land a mile away. If you add geo, take it from your entrance, or link a directions page with hasMap.
A neighbour's facilities in your list
If liveries ride in the indoor school at the yard next door, it isn't your amenity. Explain the arrangement on the page instead, so nobody arrives expecting it on site.
FAQ
Livery yards: markup questions
Type to search these questions, or ask anything about getting found on Google and AI.
Should we mark full livery as sold out while there's a waiting list?
Only if you'll change it back the day a stable comes free; availability that's months out of date misleads. Otherwise leave availability out and keep the waiting-list note on the page.
Do extras like clipping and schooling belong in the catalog?
Yes, as their own offers with prices, next to the livery types. Owners comparing yards look for them, and an assistant can only mention extras it can read.
We have DIY in one barn and full livery in another. Does each barn need its own markup?
One. It's one yard with one address and phone number; the catalog holds both livery types and the description can say which barn is which.
