Schema markup for dog daycare

Doggy daycare schema markup, with an example

Use LocalBusiness with your weekday drop-off and pick-up hours, an offer catalog that starts with the assessment day and goes on to day passes and packages, and any facility licence. Webcams and play yards go in amenityFeature, written as facts rather than adjectives.

The type to use

LocalBusiness

schema.org has no type for dog daycare, and ChildCare, despite the word daycare, means care for children. LocalBusiness fits, and any grooming or overnight boarding you run goes in the same catalog.

What to include

The properties that matter for dog daycare

Most important first. Fill in what's true for you and leave out the rest; every value must also be on the page.

openingHoursSpecification
First drop-off and last pick-up, weekdays only if that's how you run: it's what commuters check before anything else.
hasOfferCatalog
The assessment first, then full day, half day and multi-day packages. A package needs its own offer with its total price, so it isn't read as one day's cost.
address
Your full street address; owners drop off in person every day and want the easiest way in.
telephone
The front desk number, for late pick-ups and questions about whether a shy dog will settle.
amenityFeature
Things owners ask about by name: webcams, an outdoor turf yard, a separate small-dog area. Each one only if it's there.
hasCredential
A state or city facility licence, if yours requires one, with the agency that issued it. Leave it out where none applies; don't put something else in its place.
priceRange
Day prices, such as “$24–$42”, rather than a dollar sign or two.
sameAs
Your Instagram, where owners watch for their dog in the day's photos.

Example

Copy, then make it yours

This is the markup for a made-up business. Replace every value with your own before you use it.

  1. Change every name, address, number and link to your own, and delete lines that don't apply.
  2. Paste it into your site's header code (website builders call it “code injection” or “custom code”), or let ServiceCited add it for you.
  3. Check it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.

Watch out

Mistakes dog daycare make with markup

  • ChildCare because it's daycare

ChildCare files you with nurseries and after-school clubs. The word is the same; the customers aren't. LocalBusiness with “doggy daycare” in your name or description is the true match.

  • No assessment in the catalog

If new dogs must come for an assessment first and your catalog lists only day passes, assistants tell owners they can book a full day straight away. Put the assessment first, with its price.

  • A 10-day pack that reads as one day

An offer called “Daycare” at $380 looks like the price of a single day. Name it “10-day package” and keep the single-day price as an offer of its own.

Also worth adding

  • Service: A page about the assessment day can describe it as a Service with its price, how long it lasts and what new dogs need to bring.

FAQ

Dog daycare: markup questions

Type to search these questions, or ask anything about getting found on Google and AI.

Our assessment is free. Do we still list it?

Yes. An offer with a price of 0 is valid and tells owners the first step costs nothing. If it's credited against the first package instead, say so in its description and on the page.

We board dogs overnight too. Does the type change?

No. One LocalBusiness covers both; add overnight boarding to the catalog with its nightly price. A second block is only for a second location.

A local groomer works from our building. Is grooming part of our catalog?

Only if you take the booking and the payment. If the groomer runs their own business, link to them from your page and leave their services out of your markup.
