Website FAQ for catteries
15 questions cat owners ask before booking a cattery
Cat owners are particular about where their cat stays, and they ask about pens, dogs and viewing times before they ring anyone. Answer each of these on your cattery's site, and keep every rule exactly as you apply it.
The questions
What customers ask, and what a good answer includes
Answer in a sentence or two, in your own words, with real numbers where you have them.
The pens
- 1
How big are the pens?
The sleeping area and run sizes for each kind of pen, measured, not guessed.
- 2
Are the sleeping areas heated?
How pens are heated, whether owners can ask for it to be turned down, and what the cats lie on.
- 3
Can my cats share a pen?
Whether cats who live together can share, how many fit in a family pen, and the nightly cost for two.
- 4
Will my cat be able to see the other cats?
Whether pens have solid sides or sneeze barriers, and what each pen looks out on.
Vaccinations and booking
- 5
What vaccinations does my cat need to stay with you?
Your cattery's rule in full: which vaccinations, the latest a booster can be given before arrival, and the record to bring.
- 6
When can I come and see the cattery?
Your viewing days and times, and whether owners need to book.
- 7
When do your Christmas and summer dates fill up?
Roughly how far ahead your busiest weeks go, and whether you keep a cancellation list.
- 8
Do you take cats only, or dogs too?
A plain answer near the top: cats only, or how far the cat block is from any dogs.
During the stay
- 9
Can I bring my cat's own bedding and food?
Which home comforts are welcome, what you supply, and the special diets you'll follow.
- 10
Can you give my diabetic cat insulin?
Whether your staff give injections the cat's vet has prescribed, any charge, and the written instructions you need.
- 11
Which vet would you use if my cat was unwell?
The local practice you work with, and that you'll try the owner or their emergency contact before any visit.
- 12
Will you send me a photo while I'm away?
Whether you send updates, how often, and how owners can ask for one.
Arrivals and prices
- 13
What times can I drop my cat off?
Your arrival and collection hours, including any afternoons kept quiet for the cats.
- 14
How much is it per night?
The nightly price for one cat and for two sharing, and whether the day of collection is charged.
- 15
Do you need a deposit to hold my dates?
Whether you take a deposit, how much, and when it's refundable.
Examples
What a good answer looks like
Written for a made-up business. Use the length and the directness, not the facts.
Can my cats share a pen?
Yes, if they live together at home. Our family pens take up to three cats, with a heated sleeping area 1.8 m wide and its own run under cover. Two cats sharing pay £21 a night, and three pay £27.
What vaccinations does my cat need to stay with you?
We ask for an up-to-date vaccination card covering cat flu and enteritis, with the last booster given at least seven days before your cat arrives. Without the card at drop-off we can't take your cat in, so pack it with the carrier.
Do you take cats only, or dogs too?
Cats only. There are no dogs on site, so the only sounds your cat will hear are the other cats and the radio in the cat house.
FAQ
Putting answers on your site
Google stopped showing FAQ dropdowns in its results in 2026, so the win is the answers themselves: written on your pages, where people and AI assistants read them.
Type to search these questions, or ask anything about getting found on Google and AI.
Should viewing times go on the homepage?
A line on the homepage, linking to a page with the details, works well. A viewing is often the step before booking, so owners look for the times early.
We're already full for August. How do we say so?
Near the top of your booking page, with the date you'll next have space and an offer to join your cancellation list. An honest “full” with a next date is more use to owners than a form that never gets a yes.
Our pens aren't all the same size. Which sizes do we publish?
One set of sizes for each kind of pen you sell separately, with its own price. If two pens of the same kind differ a little, give the smaller size, so no owner arrives to find a pen smaller than the website said.
