Schema markup for cat groomers

Cat groomer schema markup, with an example

Cat groomers use LocalBusiness too, with a description that names cat grooming, each service from lion cuts to de-matting priced the way you charge it, and areaServed for the neighbourhoods where you groom at home. If you have a studio, its address and hours go in too.

The type to use

LocalBusiness

LocalBusiness, whether you work from a studio, a van or clients' homes. The type says nothing about cats, so name cat grooming in the description and catalog; a block that only says “pet grooming” reads as one more dog groomer.

What to include

The properties that matter for cat groomers

Most important first. Fill in what's true for you and leave out the rest; every value must also be on the page.

description
“Cat grooming only, in a quiet studio or at your home”, or however your homepage puts it. This line carries the word cat.
hasOfferCatalog
Lion cut, de-matting, bath and dry, comb-out and nail trim, each with a short description of what it involves. A first-time owner doesn't know what a comb-out is.
areaServed
The neighbourhoods you'll visit for home grooms, listed apart from the studio address so you aren't taken for studio-only.
address
The studio's street address if owners bring cats to you; city and ZIP only if you work in homes alone.
openingHoursSpecification
Studio days. Home visits by arrangement don't need hours here; say so on the page.
telephone
Owners of a matted cat often call before booking to describe the coat. Use the number you'll answer.
hasCredential
A feline grooming certification, written out in full as it was issued.
sameAs
Your Instagram, where owners can see lion cuts and comb-outs you've done.

Example

Copy, then make it yours

This is the markup for a made-up business. Replace every value with your own before you use it.

  1. Change every name, address, number and link to your own, and delete lines that don't apply.
  2. Paste it into your site's header code (website builders call it “code injection” or “custom code”), or let ServiceCited add it for you.
  3. Check it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.

Watch out

Mistakes cat groomers make with markup

  • De-matting at a price you don't charge

If de-matting is billed by the quarter hour, a flat $40 in the markup is a quote you'll have to correct at the door. Use UnitPriceSpecification with the time unit, as the example does.

  • A studio address and no visit areas

With a street address and nothing in areaServed, you look studio-only to anything reading the block. If you groom in homes too, name those neighbourhoods.

  • Bare service names

“Lion cut” and “comb-out” mean little to someone with their first long-haired cat. A one-line description on each service, matching your price list, answers the question before they ring.

Also worth adding

  • FAQPage: On a page answering handling questions (whether you sedate, when you'd stop a groom, whether owners can stay) in text cat owners can read.

FAQ

Cat groomers: markup questions

Type to search these questions, or ask anything about getting found on Google and AI.

Should lion cuts and de-matting be separate offers?

Yes, even though they're often booked together. They're priced differently and owners search for each by name; a matted cat may need one, the other or both.

I groom a few dogs too. Will that confuse the markup?

Not if you're clear. Lead with the cat services, add dog grooming as its own offers if you want that work, and say “mostly cats” in the description if that's the truth.

Is there a way to mark the studio as cats only?

Say it in the description and on the page. If the cats-only room is a physical feature owners ask about, an amenityFeature named for it works as well.

Be the first name owners find.
