Schema markup for pet waste removal services

Pet waste removal schema markup, with an example

Scooping businesses use LocalBusiness, with areaServed naming the cities on your route and a catalog of weekly plans priced by number of dogs, plus one-time cleanups and commercial service. Give prices per week or per month exactly as your page states them.

The type to use

LocalBusiness

HomeAndConstructionBusiness and its subtypes (Plumber, HousePainter, Locksmith and the rest) are building and home-repair trades, and schema.org has no yard-service or waste type, so a scooping business uses LocalBusiness.

What to include

The properties that matter for pet waste removal services

Most important first. Fill in what's true for you and leave out the rest; every value must also be on the page.

hasOfferCatalog
Weekly plans for one, two and three dogs, twice-weekly visits, a one-time cleanup and commercial service, each an offer of its own.
areaServed
The cities on your route, by name, as City entries. The full ZIP list is better kept on your service-area page.
telephone
The number new customers call to ask whether their street is on your route.
priceRange
Weekly prices with the unit spelled out, such as “$17–$30 per week”, so the range isn't read as a one-off charge.
address
City, state and ZIP; customers never come to you, and your truck yard needn't be public.
openingHoursSpecification
Your service days. If you scoop Monday to Friday, owners want to know weekends aren't covered.
email
Property managers asking for a commercial quote usually write; give the address you reply from.
sameAs
Your Facebook page and Nextdoor business page, where neighbours recommend you.

Example

Copy, then make it yours

This is the markup for a made-up business. Replace every value with your own before you use it.

  1. Change every name, address, number and link to your own, and delete lines that don't apply.
  2. Paste it into your site's header code (website builders call it “code injection” or “custom code”), or let ServiceCited add it for you.
  3. Check it with Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.

Watch out

Mistakes pet waste removal services make with markup

  • One price for any number of dogs

“Weekly service, $17” makes the three-dog household think they've found a bargain. Price by dog count, as your sign-up page does.

  • Commercial work priced at $0

An offer with a price of 0 says the service is free. If HOA work is quoted per site, leave the price off that offer and describe what's included instead.

  • Germ-killing claims in the description

Sanitiser and “disease prevention” lines are health claims, and assistants repeat them as fact. Describe what you do, like a deodorising spray for patios, and leave the rest out.

Also worth adding

  • Service: A commercial page for HOAs and property managers can carry its own Service block describing station service and the communities it covers, with no price if you quote per site.

FAQ

Pet waste removal services: markup questions

Type to search these questions, or ask anything about getting found on Google and AI.

City names or ZIP codes in areaServed?

City names, because that's how people search and what your page headline says. Keep the full ZIP list on your service-area page, where owners at the edge of your route can check.

We scoop in two metro areas. Should each get its own markup?

Two, if each has its own phone number and page; each block then lists its own cities. With one number and one team, a single block naming every city works.

Customers pay monthly. Should prices be weekly or monthly?

Whichever your page shows, with the unit stated: unitText “per week” or “per month”. Mixing the two across plans makes them impossible to compare.

Be the first name owners find.
